I’ve always had an appreciation for paintings and I dreamed of a day when I would be able to curate a collection of my own. Getting drawn into a painting and losing myself in it’s beauty is when I know that I have to have it. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to collect art just take the time to look around and see what evokes emotion in you.
I had no way of knowing what this painting would look like when I commissioned it but I couldn’t be happier with it. Our dog Jake followed my husband everywhere and had eyes only for him. Whenever I look at it I remember what a great dog he was and how he touched our lives and lived only to please us. This is something that I would take with us wherever we go and can’t imagine our house without it.
Beautiful! Can you recommend the artist who painted it, and perhaps give a ballpark of how much they charge?
Hi Chris,
The artist that painted it is named Matt Warford and here is a link to his website. It’s been a few years since I had the painting done and I believe it was in the $700.00 range.

I love this! I own an art gallery and I always encourage people to do commissions of family, pets, and meaningful places. PS- I’ve been trying out your recipes lately and have been loving all of them. 🙂
Hi Sonya,
Thanks for reading the blog. I couldn’t agree with you more, pets are part of the family and it’s a great way to add some interesting art to your walls without a huge price tag.
I completely understand how treasured this drawing is. Dogs hold a special place in the family and bring so much joy. We don’t have a wonderful drawing like this but we have a framed picture of our Starr taken on a beautiful spring day during a casual photo shoot walking around our Philly neighborhood. The picture will always stay close to my heart.
