So it’s official, at the age of 40 I’ve decided to have a midlife crisis. I need to lose 15 pounds, I have way too much stuff, I don’t spend enough time doing what I love and too much time on what I don’t.
This blog is my attempt to take control of my life, lose weight and figure out how to declutter, strip down and get back to basics. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to get rid of all my possessions, live in a yurt and recycle toilet paper, but I would like to make due with less, want less. Every time I open a magazine or turn on the tv I am told of all the things I don’t have and can’t live without. I have spent so much time dreaming of a new house and moving to a new place that I realize I have missed out on enjoying what is right in front of me.
I want to take the time to reconnect with all the things in my life are important to me. I’m going to focus my energies on enjoying what I do have and less time on all the things I don’t have or think I need.
First things first. These are the things that do make me happy:
my boys make me happy
my garden makes me happy
cooking makes me happy
Taking photos makes me happy
Along the way I hope to learn something about myself and spend more time exploring all my happy things. I’m sure there will be some disasters as I muddle my way through and try to learn what all the buttons on my camera do, but I hope that you’ll join me as I try making, growing and exploring the things I love at home.
